Hobby Gardening: The Best Hobby Greenhouse for Windy Area

Sharing is caring!

Hobby gardening helps your body to release oxytocin - the hormone responsible for contractions of the cervix during labor.

But that’s not all that this hormone does.

Among other things, it is also responsible for energizing your body and makes you feel good and probably add more years to your life.

This proves that gardening can help you feel happier, healthier and more confident while reducing stress and anxiety.

I guess that’s why everyone tells you gardening could be the hobby that helps you live to 100 years!

Now, if these facts do not give you a reason to consider gardening as your new hobby I don’t know what would. But if hobby gardening is already your thing, I want to share a secret to succeeding at it even if your hardiness zone isn’t so favorable.

And that’s greenhouse hobby gardening.

However, the secret is in choosing a greenhouse that is steady enough to withstand tough weather conditions such as frost or strong winds. You don’t want anything to get in your way of growing plants throughout the year – not even the weather.

Let’s dive in:

The Best Hobby Gardening Greenhouse for Windy Area

If you’ve never owned a hobby greenhouse and thinking of getting one, you’re lucky to be reading this post because I’m going to help you make a more informed decision.

If you currently own a garden greenhouse, does the following sound familiar?

  • Your greenhouse doesn't get enough sunlight for the plants to grow all winter.
  • Fairly flimsy and directions tell you to put it away if it's going to storm or be windy. Kind of eliminates the idea of getting it to shelter plants from in climate weather!
  • When you bought it, you thought it would last longer. But now you realize it won't last one season unless it has a lot of supports added to the frame. Otherwise, the wind will tear it up; even 5 mph wind may blow it over.
  • The zippers are horrible and you’re constantly trying to duct tape it closed so that all of your plants won't die during the harsh weather.

If you’ve been gardening for a while under the greenhouse, one or more of these scenarios should be familiar.

If not, then congratulations. Probably this article is not for you – I do not wish to waste your precious time.

It doesn’t have to be this frustrating:

You should be focusing on what matters like boosting your creativity through planning your garden.

Planning what to grow this season and then seeing your designs come to a successful fruition is confidence-building and so, so satisfying.

As the days and weeks go past, you see young plants swell, foliage knit together, flowers emerge and dimensions take shape – and it’s all down to you taking time out to realize your vision.

Pat yourself on the back but, more importantly, take every opportunity to drink in what you have created and all through the harshest of conditions.

As a gardening hobbyist, you deserve all these and more:

That’s why I’ve done the heavy lifting of conducting thorough research, sifting through hundreds of greenhouses to come up with just one or two that will give you the best chance for success.

Introducing;

Grand Gardener 2 Clear Greenhouse. This is an ultra high-end greenhouse for the ultimate gardening experience.

This greenhouse features two kinds of virtually unbreakable polycarbonate coverings to give you the best of both worlds.

Crystal clear polycarbonate side walls allow clear views while being ultra-safe. Meanwhile, the twin-wall roof panels diffuse over 90% of sunlight for a soft, even light.

The weatherproof frame on the Grand Gardener 2 also features simplified assembly with the pin and lock system, while the roof panels simply slide into place.

This heavy-duty extruded resin frame improves both insulation and durability.

The barn style roof design provides ample headroom and gives you more space to garden. Double doors allow easy access and provide excellent ventilation.

Included roof vent provides a heat vent even when the doors are closed. Secure to concrete pad or heavy timber foundation. Optional base kit may be added for additional height and extra stability.

I promise that with this hobby greenhouse, your plants will thank you for it.

I do not think you’re ever going to tire of seeing trays of home-sown seedlings. Sowing is methodical and therapeutic in itself, and satisfaction can be (in hobby gardening) pretty quick.

Watching the dianthus and pelargoniums take root, seeing fresh sprigs of ginger mint arise from root sections, dividing up geraniums, cannas and herbs – when you walk into the Grand gardener greenhouse you feel like your body drinks in the abundance of it all.

You can’t imagine doing anything else.

This greenhouse is designed for using heavy potted plants on the shelves.

The only problem you’ll encounter with this Rion greenhouse, is the assembly – which to be honest is a pain in the butt. But it’s worth it in the end.

But if you’re tight on a budget but still need something durable, you can check out Palram hybrid hobby greenhouse.

  1. How can you recommend Palram which is trashed online everywhere by people who say any kind of wind destroys it. Did you actually try these out or just found them yourself online?

    • Hello Ruddy, thanks for your comment. Most of the products that I recommend I have either had a personal experience with them or have been recommended by people I trust. In this case, Palram was highly recommended to me and the people I asked confirmed the same. But your feedback is always welcome so that I can keep updating the post. Do you have any superior alternative in mind? I’d love to hear all about it…

  2. Hi there I’m looking for a back yard green house about 6 X 4 or around that size .I’m in dongara and on ocean front and worry about wind as its strong at times and gale force. The good thing is it would be behind the house but wind still strong .My wife wants a green house.Im Gunna need to anchor it to footings but will it handle 50 km plus wind .

    • Hi Steven, that’s too much wind speed over there :-)! All the same as long as a bit of the wind is being blocked by windbreakers – in your case the house, the suggested greenhouses will be fine. I hope this helps.
