Some of the plants that you will see on this list are going to need a bit of sun, while some are going to be better with more shade.
The thing that you will notice with these plants though, is that they are small enough that they easily fit into the vertical garden without causing such a mess like some of the bigger plants.
Some of the plants that you will want to consider for your vertical garden include:
The first plant that does really well with a vertical garden is known as oregano.
This plant isn’t going to grow to be really tall, which is really important when you are talking about the space that you have available in your vertical garden.
It also isn’t going to need a lot of special care and attention to get things done, so it will work well indoors.
The best temperatures for these plants is pretty low, between 65 to 70 degrees, and it will need about eight hours of sun each day.
You will not need to work that hard on the potting soil either because this one will do well with some common potting soil to start.
This is another herb that does pretty well when you are working on a vertical garden, and it does pretty well when you are working with some indoor temperatures.
You will need to make sure that the garden is near some good sunshine because the chives will need around eight hours a day of the sun.
You also need to pick out a really good organic compost. So, it does cost a bit more compared to oregano and some of the other plants on the list, but overall it is not that bad.
This is a cold area plant so you will need to keep it in a location that is a little bit cooler to see the results.
3. Daisies and petunias
Petunias are known for making a great floor to grow well in the vertical gardens.
These tend to grow very quickly and they need some of the same standard of growing as you will find with chives.
In addition, daisies are often considered a common weed, but if you like to make healing and herbal teas, these flowers do so well in them.
The daisies are going to tend to be pretty hardy, but you do need to make sure that they get a ton of sun if you want them to grow well.
Both the petunias and the daisies are going to make for some great teas, and since they don’t take up a lot of space in the garden, they work really well for your vertical garden.
Spinach is going to sometimes work in your vertical garden, but you do need to be careful about the location that you place it in.
Most of the time you will need to make sure that the spinach is going to get a ton of sun during the day, so if you are working with other plants that don’t like the heat or the sun as much, this could make it a bit difficult.
The spinach plant is also going to thrive in a moderate environment.

One thing that you will need to worry about if you are working with lettuce in your garden is the size of the pot that you are going to use.
Some varieties of lettuce can grow really large, so you will want to make sure that you aren’t picking one that is going to get too big for your vertical garden.
The lettuce is also going to need a lot of attention to grow well from rich soil to as much sunlight as you can provide it.
The good news is that you are able to harvest the lettuce early on and as long as you just trim it a little bit, it will keep on growing back for you to use over and over again.
6. Chili plants
These are another type of plant that you will notice grow closer to the ground, but you may want to make sure that the room that you are using is going to have some extra room available before you try to work with these.
They are a little bigger compared to some of the other plants that were listed, such as spinach and lettuce, but they are still small enough that you will be able to grow them in this kind of garden without too much of an issue.
You just need to make sure to provide these chili plants with a bit more room compared to some of the other options.
When you look at radishes, you will notice that they are very low to the ground, and sometimes they can be almost all underground.
If you are working with radishes, you will want to make sure that you are providing them with a deeper cup or box for their roots to grow.
Radishes also need a bit more care because they will need as much sunlight as possible to grow, as well as some fertile land, and more potassium and phosphorus compared to some of the other plants that you are working with.
Finding potting soil that has these higher nutrient levels can be hard, so you will most likely need to make your own soil mix to make this work.

Most of these are going to need to be in as much sunlight as you can possibly give them; if you are able to provide them with more than eight hours of sun each day that will be perfect.
You have to remember that most of these plants are going to need to be watered on a daily basis as well since the sunlight can dry them out.
Full sun plants will need to have at least eight hours of this direct sunlight to keep strong, which can be vertical garden that is on the side of a house or even in an office that has a large window.
Some of the plants that you can choose that fit into the category of straight full sun will include:
1. Cherry tomatoes
This plant is a bit different, but if you aren’t interested in making a lot of different pots and you want to work with a vertical garden that is just about cherry tomatoes, it isn’t that bad.
You would need to take the tomatoes and make sure that they are placed at the bottom of the vertical garden.
You would then need to grab a coated wire fence for the rest of the area where your pots will grow.
This is because tomatoes, including cherry tomatoes, are very vine-like plants, which means that they are going to need to grow on something rather than just in something.
You will need to make sure that the cherry tomato plants are getting enough water, so make sure that you are keeping the soil moist and consider switching out the soil as often as possible for the best results.
Sage is another option that you are able to work with.
This one likes a loamy or sandy soil that has a pH that is somewhere between a 6 and a 7.
You won’t need to provide it with an excessive amount of water so that can save you some time, but make sure that you are checking the soil on a regular basis to see if you need to add in some more water.
This is also a plant that is known to grow outwards rather than going up, so you may need to trim it on occasion to make sure that it is growing the proper way without having to worry about it taking up too much space inside the room.
Thyme is something that is going to take up a lot of your effort to help you get it to grow, but if you are looking to add in some more herbs to your garden, it can be one of the best options that you go with.
If you would like to work on thyme from seeds, this is going to take even more patience because these seeds tend to grow at an extremely slow pace.
For example, if you start out with the seeds, you will find that it takes at least a few weeks before the seedlings are able to show themselves.
You will need to make sure that the thyme plants are staying at a temperature that is 70 degrees or above, and it will need to get as much sun as you are able to spare for the plant.
You will notice that the thyme is at its full height when it ends up being about a foot tall in the pot.
As you can see, there are a few limitations when it comes to working on certain plants in your vertical garden.
You won’t be able to pick out any plant that you would like, because you need to make sure to pick out ones that will work well inside and won’t take up as much horizontal space since you are limited.
But there are a lot of great options that you are able to work with when it comes to your vertical garden, and it will depend on what you would like to grow and what works the best for the amount of time that you would like to spend on the whole garden.
